what’s news Roca Gallery The City as Habitat series analyses the current model for urban life Issues such as biodiversity, energy and mobility were analysed over the course of six sessions, to study the relationship between the city and the environment After the Promoting Transformation series, held at the Roca Madrid Gallery in 2014, Roca and the ASA (the Association for Sustainability and Architecture) joined forces a second time in 2015 to organise this new round of conferences to contextualise our model for urban life. The outcome of this new partnership is The City as Habitat, a series of six sessions running until July that tackled all of the relations that we have to establish between the city and the environment at a time when urban centres have become the new habitat, one which must be sustainable. With the goal of analysing the issue from a number of viewpoints, the sessions’ experts have focused on different aspects, such as biodiversity, citizenship and social innovation and mobility. The Roca Madrid Gallery presents the window display Outlining Roca The installation provides an artistic depiction of Roca’s creative process, resulting in three of the company’s flagship products The new Roca Madrid Gallery window display, Outlining Roca, shows how a creative line of thought takes free flight, portraying ideas and linking one by one the concepts that give rise to every one of our products. Developed by creative and strategic consultants CuldeSacTM, the installation depicts three different stages of Roca’s creative process. The artistic lines of illustrator Jorge Lawerta, which provide the connecting thread, travel through these three stages, beginning with the union between ideas and concepts. It then sketches out the first draft, portrayed as a sculpture that becomes increasingly solid and opaque, to end up with the final product, in this case the W+W WC, the Prisma bathroom furniture unit and the Terran shower tray.
