18 2018 Roca Galleries Presentation of the exhibition “Idencity: six designs from the LSA to challenge the identity of London” This is an exhibition that showcases projects developed by students that question London’s identity In response to the topic of the London Festival of Architecture of this year, “Identity”, Roca showcases an exhibition of the London School of Architecture 2017-18 Design Think Tanks in its London space. Led by the most important British architects, the students have developed, within the framework of the Design Think Tanks organized by the School of Architecture, a range of radical urban proposals such as the elimination of the Thames barrier, changing the face of Crossrail2 or super-densifying Rotherhithe. These and many other projects have been included in the exhibition “Idencity”, an example of how architecture can and should address issues as essential for the urban identity as governability, well-being, ecology, infrastructures and vertical and horizontal density. The London School of Architecture bases its academic program on the link between the architectural practice and the profession in order to reshape the relationship between the academic world and the research carried out in the boardrooms of the main architectural firms in the city, providing students the opportunity of working with real cases. In this sense, Roca arises as a constant and loyal collaborator of the London School of Architecture, offering a professional space where students can present their work, the result of the research carried out at the Design Think Tanks program. “Roca keeps its firm commitment to continue supporting young and emerging talent”, Caroline Kilgour, in charge of exhibitions and communication at the Roca London Gallery, points out. “We recognize the importance of the contribution of the LSA to research and to the design of our cities with our collaboration in the dissemination of the student projects by means of an exhibition. Their proposals have the potential to question and, as a last resort, to change the way we live.” 19
