17 2018 Roca Gallery Garden cities of the 21 centuryst As concerns about climate change, renewable energies and healthy air and water continue to intensify, the idea of a more sustainable urban planning which guarantees a more pleasant habitat in some self-sufficient communities is gaining momentum. Roca wanted to address this tendency at the Roca Beijing Gallery with “Home Sweet Home: Garden Cities in the 21st Century”, a conference which discussed how the inhabitants of this type of city create an urban space they can identify with. The main presentation was given by Yang Wei, President of Wei Yang & Partner Ltd (United Kingdom), after which he talked to Wang Haijun, Associate Director of the Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, in a conversation moderated by Jasmine Zhou, Manager of the Roca Beijing Gallery. The audience put questions to the speakers in a lively discussion on our future habitat. “Discover the Exclusive Beauty of Spain” promotes Spanish culture The Roca Beijing Gallery was the setting for the “Discover the Exclusive Beauty of Spain” event, a gathering aimed at disseminating Spanish culture and promoting Spain as a tourist destination for the Chinese public. The presentation was given by Li Ming, Director of the Catalonia Tourism Office in China, and Jasmine Zhou, Manager of the Roca Beijing Gallery. With the goal of bringing the two cultures closer together, the speakers covered aspects relating to the architecture, gastronomy and traditions which characterise Spain and which were most likely to be of interest to Chinese visitors. 23
